Hi Again. Ok, so here on Maui we have no Infiniti dealership, and limited resources. I use the Nissan dealership for complex things. Per my previous post, my 2017 Q70 (36,000 miles) has radio display issue, where it takes 58 seconds to get past the Infiniti startup screen, then boots into dark screen except for AC settings. At that point I’m stuck with 1 radio station, no Bluetooth, Nav, settings, etc. Only the camera, AC, and one radio station. Then steering column radio controls don’t work. In Hawaii, I’m looking at minimum $4000 if TCU or AV module, and major delay getting it done. My question: Can I put in a really nice aftermarket stereo, which will still work with the steering column controls. And also allow the AC setting and a few other things to work. Or is this too complex, and I would need to replace TCU or Av anyway. I have no idea, but would like to have it done for under $2000, and sometime soon. Thanks much.

You could buy a use HU on ebay and see if it works. Idk if you need the dealer to reprogram for your car. I bought a used and gps didn't work. If not, then get one of those 10.5" Android HU replacements. only thing is, idk if it'll work with a broken stock HU, but might work with the used HU.

lemme guess, you unplugged something electrical without disconnecting the battery. Probably fried your HU like mine.

Hi Yoda’s Master- Sorry, what is HU (head unit?). I looked on EBay last few days, didn’t see anything that works yet. I’ve never liked the Q70 bluetooth, and the stereo is fairly antiquated. Figure if I have to spend a few thousand, maybe better going to really nice modern unit. That’s assuming it will work with the steering controls, and also bypass whatever bad component is causing the current problem. I hope to find out. No, I didn’t cause the problem. 5 yrs old, 36000 miles, just typical of how Infiniti has become less reliable the past 5years or so. Already have had power windows go, a few sensors, trim issues. This was just another thing.

dang. easiest thing is is take it out and match the part number. there's no aftermarket standalone hu, just piggy back units like grom (don't know if it'll work in this case) and 10.5" android.
disconnect your battery before removing it or risk frying other components.

np. probably best to get the android unit since most of them have a canbus decoderso you can get the seat and steering wheel comfort setting back. just don't expect everything to work.
