Need to replace the tires on the '11 G37x sedan @37K miles. I'm an old guy who no longer pushes it as hard as I used to, so I'm thinking Grand Touring tires rather than Ultra High Performance. All season, 95V or better rating.

Anybody here have experience with the Continental PureContact or their UHP counterpart, ExtremeContact DWS? They're both well rated and bestsellers at TireRack.

I had the Conti DW on my 2009 G37S Sedan and loved them! I've used Yoko ADVANs and Toyo Proxies and the Conti's were better.

DW is a max summer tire and maxhopper seems to like them, but, he swaps them out for the winter. All-season the DWS work well although they are not the greatest in heavy rain.

Have DWS on the sedan and coupe.
No complaints other than a softer side wall on the coupe than I really like cause I do push it a bit at times. But, has been great on the sedan!!
31K on the coupe and the DWS is still in the tread....will measure when sun comes up.
15K was on the sedan and was plenty of tread.....can't measure, traded yesterday.

If your not going to push your sedan, I just don't see the need to get a UHP tire. THere must be some trade offs with wet and snow to be a UHP tire....ritght??
Doesn't it make sense that a HP all season would be a better all season than a UHP all season. And a Performance all season better than a HP all season??
Thinking out loud here...your thread, maybe I need to start another, but wonder if there is truth to this.

After 40K on my first set of Conti's DWS...it was not an issue to replace with same! With hot summers and under wet conditions in Florida...these are absolutely GREAT!!! :chuckle:

Thanks, Matt. Didn't catch the DW/DWS distinction.

I'm thinking along the same lines as you, SVTCobra, and I also appreciate the specific mileage numbers. At this point, I'm leaning to the "Grand Touring" PureContact, which is the HP version of this Continental line. Will be interested in current tread on the coupe, since treadwear rating can be extrapolated within a line with some reliability (PureContact is 700 vs. 540 for DWS).

Wait...what did you trade for?

Also, thanks to Marosari00 for weighing in.

31K on the coupe
Front's 6/32
Rear's 5 to 4/32
Have never rotated these and there is some uneven wear.
So, would think you would get better life on a sedan with rotations.

Oh, and got a new 2013 G37X w/prem. grey with graphite interior.
MSRP dropped $4,800 due to the Q50 release and got better than VPP pricing... :woot:

Thanks much, SVT! Specs say they start at 10/32, so your results suggest 55K or better before getting to 1/16. Which means that the 70K treadware warranty on the grand touring tire is plausible.

Congratulations on the new G and the great deal you worked out. :toast:

Very nice. I'm looking around for a 2012 G37xS for cheap since it will be the wifes upgrade from the G35s.

The PureContact rate well so you should be OK with them...as a 700AA I would not aggressively hit switchbacks without traction control :gapteeth:

Thanks again for the advise and feedback, guys. With 200 miles on the PureContact Grand Tourings, I can say that they are much, much quieter than the OEM Goodyears and give up nothing noticeable in handling. MrsMudgen remarked on the quietness the first time she climbed in the car with the new tires.

I've always thought the factory tires as crap so anything should be better :)

Let us know how they wear.

For me Michelin Pilot AS Sports win the game hands down. Awesome wet ride, which to me is most important. I don't power drift in corners in the dry anymore...but I do go fast on highways in bad weather. It's there I need to grip.

There may be better wearing tires, but the AS Sports have some of the best wet grip according to CR. They are their highest rated all weather tires

Pilot Sports are good tires. The AS are a tad more expensive than ContiExtreme DWS and do have lower snow ratings.
