Tire 1 - Continental ExtremeContact DWS - Link

Tire 2 - Goodyear Assurance ComforTred Touring - Link

I currently have tire 1. I'm at about 26kmi and they are done. Time to change. They are also NOISY as heck right now. But they were a good tire for sure when they were in good condition.

Anyone have tire 2? Thoughts? The price difference is like $150 for the set...so it's significant...but wanted to hear M owner reviews before I made my decision.

Thanks.

You know me-DWS all the way. Except I've only got the OEM RSA Image to compare it to...

I've got almost 10k on my DWS now-hardly any wear?

I haven't had the ComforTread on my M. I had the TripleTread on my Park Avenue and loved it (the TripleTread had the best rating out of the touring tires back then, above the ComforTread). Just remember it's a touring tire instead of an all-season tire. That's why it will cost less and last longer, but if you wore out the ExtremeContact DWS that fast, you might drive too hard to be happy with a touring tire. I'll probably go with the ComforTread next time around, but I have 27K on the ExtremeContact DWS and the letters are still all intact in the tread and it's still quieter than the Pilot Sport A/S Plus ever was (and that was quieter than the OEM RSA). It's also possible that your wear is due to alignment issues, I had crappy alignments from the dealer and Big O tires (the latter tore up my Pilot Sport A/S Plusses early), but Tire Barn did a decent job (so much better you'd think they used different specs, 27K without feeling like it needs aligned and my tires are only a little bit choppy, which is apparently good for the M). FYI, I didn't vote because no experience with the ComforTread, so I can't rightly recommend it.

I'm on the DWS myself. Just put them on. They are great so far.

I had the ComforTred Touring installed a couple weeks ago - I couldn't be happier with my selection. Quiet, comfortable, smooth and rated for 70k miles (and Goodyear is offering an $80 rebate on a set right now).

I had to go with the DWS again with the tire size I needed...I went to 19" and the tourings aren't offered in 245/40/19. Oh well, definitely seems like a great tire though.

Maybe with a Tirerack balance and mounting, my new DWS will hold up past 30k easy. I had my current ones mounted by Walmart and I'm sure having slightly bent wheels didn't help.

A bent wheel ruined a couple tires for me, I forgot aboutyou mentioning that. I guess it's a bit late to ask now, but how do you expect to keep from bending 19s if you bent 18s?

I have about 26k on my conti's and they are running fine. At least in my case, managing tire pressure has been key. I can only compare them to the RSA. thus, anything including a square block would have performed better.

From what I've heard from a bunch of guys on the other forum I go to, OEM wheels tend to be really easy to bend. So...I'm hoping this cast build on my new ones holds up better.

What? How do you bend a wheel-OEM or not? In all my years of driving over ruts-pot holes etc., I have yet to bend a wheel. Am I doing something wrong?

You can thank the west coast for that.

East coast SUCKS for roads. NYC especially...or hell...any city in NY state. NY has no money...roads here are TERRIBLE.

There are some pot holes around here that will kill a motorcyclist. I literally believe sometimes that I've moved back to Ukraine. :rotflmao

I got my bent wheel the easy way, by buying it. Problem is, three shops didn't notice it or tell me about it, so I couldn't prove it by the time I knew it was bent.

Yeah I think one of mine my have been pre-bent. :roflmao

When I got the car, the inner driver front wheel was BALD. I totally overlooked it. So who knows what was going on with that wheel. As a first time car buyer, I missed it. But, lesson learned. I will now check for stuff like that.

I put on the Coni's about 2K ago and am happy. 1st a drop in gas mileage but after asking a board ? and filling them to 37 PSI cold my milage is closer to normal (26-27 freeway and 20-22 in town). I guess the harder PSI is the key.
I would not be happy at all if they died at 26K though. My OEM was 35K and pretty choppy at the end.
Sooooooo so far so good with the Coni's.

Bought DWS for my wife's car - replaced the OEM Conti Pros. For my car I use summer Z's.
THe DWS on dry is a very good tire. But when it is wet I love them. On higher speed mountain roads with rain and bad drainage, these tires are awesome.

p.s. When I lived out east I bent lots of my VW Alloys.
