That new Pathfinder is a monumental joke....it's just an insult to the Pathfinder heritage.

The vehicle itself is not bad. However, to call it a Pathfinder is just sacrilege. It has NONE of the capabilities of the truck platform Pathy's and it's disgraceful. I don't hate them for building it, it just should have had a different name.

Friend of mine loved her old Pathfinder but when it came time to upgrade she went with a 4Runner.

Why? Because she was moving to Denver, enjoys the outdoors, and wanted a truck, not a jacked up Altima.

It's a good vehicle but due to the CVT and towing / weight ratio issues, I wouldn't trust it to pull a greasy string out of a cat's a**.

:chuckle: So true. To me, one can almost forgive Nissan for neutering the Pathy by basing it (as well as half it's entire lineup) on an Altima platform. But lets face it, reality is virtually no new Pathy owners actually take their SUV's or road. This reminds me of the infamous Chrysler K-car, which financially saved Chrysler yet ruined it's reputation for reliability.

The primary deal killer for me to ever buying a new Pathy is that patheticallhy unreliable CVT (and no other choice) that replaced a perfectly good and reliable automatic in the previous generations, just so Nissan can trim a few manufacturing pesos and gain, what, 1-2 mpg for an upcoming CAFE standard. That CVT is almost single handedly responsible for killing the Mallfinder's long time good reputation. Nissan really needs to walk away from the CVTs in at least their larger vehicles until they figure out how to make them reliable. One would hope they notice the glaring problem.
