Other than the factory consult unit, does anyone know of a consult -esk software for communicating with the rest of the vehicle, not just the engine?

I have a '94 Q45 now and would like a better interface than counting flashes of lights to get basic codes.

I also am not looking to spend $7000.00 on a new Consult 2 , hence my search for a more extensive software program than just simply tuning the motor.

So, does anyone have any suggestions?

Hey try this guy http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...7.m29 this guy has customer support that rivals Wes Stinson.

The software that he uses is "OBD1 Scan Tech" it scans the Engine, transmission, Airbag, AC and HICAS this software rivals if not is better than blazt.biz software called "Nissan Data Scan" (have not tested this yeat but seller says it to be true)

Tell him your from NICO and you might get it for $44 instead of $68.

You get it that cheap because you have to buy the serial cable-USB cable which runs from a couple of bucks to $40

no other nissan OBDI uses a LAN system like the Q has, so I doubt you'll find anything...

The OBD Scan Tech software is available for free now but of course you need the consult adapter. This software does have options for other control units but I have not messed with it very much so I can't say if it works on the Q45 or not.

Here's the link to the software.

See if you can a Consult 1. Its what was the factory tool from 89-98ish it uses a similar setup to C2 but it should be a little cheaper. Elwesso is right the LAN system that was used on the old Q is stuff that cheaper cars still don't have.

It uses common wires to send data regarding several control signal inputs and outputs. The system uses digital pulse signals to operate windows, door locks, all ADP (auto driver positioner) functions are also controlled through these lines. For the year the technology was impressive but as time goes on they have increased the speed enough to be able to control the engine, trans, AWD and VDC systems over common wires.

The fact it had one back in 1994. Common computer LAN was only 10 MB back then.
