Not sure what section to post this, so I'll post it here...

I recently got a consult interface and software from Australia...

Pete now has a webpage up for details....including prices

http://www.plmsdevelopments.com/consult_if.htm

A friend has tried this on an Almera N15, not sure if he's tried it on his P11 yet, and I've tried it on my Primera P10....

Here is the interface...

With the software you can monitor just about everything...

read and reset codes

datalog to a csv file

Active test, as well as putting the ECU in idle speed/timing mode

That is really cool. How much work will it be to configure it for the VH45DE? What is the data logging rate? Thanks.

If it has a consult port and is ODB-1, I would think it'd work...Pete has only listed vehicles he has personally tested it on...

There is an email link at the bottom of the page if you wanna contact him about it.....

Datalog rate..... next time I'm in the car with the laptop I'll log a few seconds and see what the rate is...deffo more than once a second (logging everything).....but Pete may have an answer one that aswell..

Thats great, it should work with the OBD-1 KA's (from 89-93), and even better considering the $127 AUS dollars for the software and device with connector exchanges to only about $90 USD!!! I have to get one now...

That doesn't look like a Consult. That looks like an OBD-II scanner. Not sure why they're calling it a Consult.

Consults, typically, are a stand-alone device that takes flash memory cards for the various ECU personality modules.

The best OBD-II system I have found in America so far is the one on http://www.obd-2.com/ . The interface is a little cheesy, but it natively supports the most range of cars. Especially if you get the TriCan self-configuring plug.

The system, with the TriCan costs $180 and includes lifetime software upgrades. This works on any Windows based PC system. And, although I haven't tested it, should also work on Linux if you're running Wine or CrossoverOffice.

It's not a OBD-II tool, it's consult-1 system!!

Have a read....

http://www.plmsdevelopments.co...6.pdfhttp://www.plmsdevelopments.co...2.pdfhttp://www.plmsdevelopments.co...3.pdf

So you're also saying Conzult and Ztalk aren't consult devices ???

It is a program which performs some of the consult's functions with the use of a interface which converts the power to serial port specs and produces the correct clock signal so that the PC/Laptop can use the data.....

If you've got a spare $7000 or so, then by all means get a consult.......oh wait you can't buy em unless you are a nissan dealer...

Best bet would be to email Pete for details, I'm just a satisfied customer... ;)

I do know though, that if you want the newer software rev 1.2, it will be approx 3 weeks b4 that is finished....

rev 1.1 is shown on the site (and screenshots on this thread)

I am communicating with Pete regarding this issue. He is checking with his software guy about required enhancements to work with the VH. Regardless, I will probably order one for testing on other USDM models, which have not yet been tested. All you 240 guys stay tuned.

Thanks daedalus. I'm definitely interested in this.

For the whole package that we need, it's

$AUD 65 + 25 + 25 + 12 right?

I'm kinda sketchy about ordering from someone whos site doesn't even work.

You can tell this company means business when they're not afraid to give their design away. Awesome for those with time on their hands, but I'd much rather order it from them than go through the soldering trouble

Just wanted to revive an old but awesome thread. Have you guys been having any problems with datascan? I just ordered mine and I am especially excited about the new ROM recording software. Hopefully we can use this to start making BIN's for the daughterboards for the KA's.

Also, has anybody tried using additional inputs i.e. WBO2, EGT, boost?
