I have a generic scanner (memoscan) which will read and clear my codes. I see how necessary it is to have the use of Consult II with the Maxima factory manual. Are these too expensive or unavailable to the public? Are they some huge cabinet enclosed device ? Are there aftermarket or other affordable scanners that could give me the detailed diagnostic info my car seems to require?

I know Consult will reset it but I am not sure about a regular scanner as I've never tried it. If you simply want to reset the codes, disconnect the battery and let it sit a while.
