is this legit or even worth having ? does it do the same thing as ecu blinky codes or ?

Looks like a reasonably legit one... It will do the same thing as the ECU blinking however I believe it car read the HICAS stuff and maybe some other things... They work pretty good but some don't work so good if you have to use a serial to USB converter. There are ones out there that are straight up USB and those work better if your laptop only has USB.

For the price I was thinking of grabbing one anyway. Are there alternatives people use for computer diags on a z32 ? Like o2 sensor and stuff like that?

Really what you can do with it depends on the software. All that box is doing is converting the consult signal into something useful to a PC.. On the Z32 the o2 sensors are not like widebands, so you can't read AFR's with them like you might be hoping. Z32 o2 sensors are basically like ON/OFF switches or more like LEAN/RICH, and how often it switches from LEAN/RICH is how the ECU adjusts the fuel mixture (which on OBDI is mainly on cruising only).

The reason I bring up the thing about the USB is some people have had issues with some of them not working properly on certain models, with USB converters and whatnot.
