Ok, i am working on a project of putting a r33 rb26 into a s15. The wiring for the most part is complete. I have power to ecu, inj, and coils. The way the S15 works is that it uses seperate relays for the inj and coils and ecu. The rb26 normally uses two relays one for eccs and one for coils. Anyway here is where my problem starts. For some reason when ever i send power to the ignitor harness (12v) the first coil MELTS. No other coil has this problem. I was able to start and turn on the car, but the first coil (num 1) over heats, cracks and poops out plastic. From all digrams / charts i have read the middle wire on the coil pack should get 12v, and the ecu grounds it and that is what sends spark. Any suggestions or remarks ? i am going to look at the ignitor but i cannot afford to melt another coil. also i went over the grounds and i have yet to see any other problem, the harness is BRAND NEW and untouched, only the f4 plug was repinned to match the s15 and if needed i can upload all the charts i had to make to complete the wiring. Thank you in advance !!!

Even when the car is turned off? What's different between that coil and the others as far as wiring goes? I assume you've looked for obvious mistakes. This is a case where a scope could be helpful in your plight.

nah the ign coil turns on when its supposed to , i only get 12v to middle wire when ign is on, and it cooks the coil when the ign is on, it takes arnd 30 seconds than it starts to smoke. And this is on multiple coils so, but like i said only on coil number one.

issue was a dagnostic ground on coil harness, was grounding the first coil only. Yuri at wiring specialities, told me about it and it just needed to be cut. Not gonna lie i would of never found the problem lol. Now i am blowing the 100amp fusible link when i crank car, grounded the s*** out of the engine. Working on that problem now.

Alternater or starter shorting would cause the fusible link to blow.
