I'm tired of having to keep the car on in order to charge my phone. I'm thinking of how I can provide constant 12v power to the cigarette socket. My truck's socket has a constant 12v. Any ideas on how I can do this? Is this stupid? Can this drain the battery in it of itself, or by charging a cell phone for an hour (this cars battery seems to die faster than other vehicles I've had when the car is off and power is being used...and it's a new battery)?

Without digging thru the FSM, the options that immediately come to mind are homelink, headlights and horn (switched but constant). Depending on your door/key sequence the headlights might lose power due to the battery saving feature
If anythng like the 03 era nissans, the hot is constant and it's switched by providing ground, which might not be a big obstacle.
As for how sound the idea is, not sure how much amp draw your phone charger has, but I have listened to music for around 1 hour a few times with the engine off in the past.
Do you usually have to sit in your car for long periods charging your phone? Is it possible to say charge before getting in the car or just plug it in as soon as you get in?

Since you are taking things apart anyway just run a new line from the battery to the fuse for the cigarette lighter. That will ensure the outlet stays on always no matter what and is still fused right.
