console making

I bought some poster board at wal mart and some foam board there also. I am making a console for under the radio to go past shifter and butt up against my after market console. I used the poster board to make template and used the thicker foam board to make the prototype. I will fiberglass it and cover in vinyl when done. I will post pics when done, so far it fits good and looks cool. I have a pocket from a car at junkyard I am going to put in for some storage room. it basically fills the entire area under radio down to trans hump flows back past shifter and runs into the console i added in between seats. I think as the gray in truck is too hard to match will cover in black it goes okay with gray. Will post pics when done.

Hey that sounds cool. I can't wait to see the pics. if it comes out as good as I think I let you make one for my '87.

Well the box is made and just fiber glassed it. When fully cured will sand and trim f excess and cover in black vinyl and install. Went pretty easy. Used the poster to mock up shape then used it to cut out foam board. Tacked foam board and layed fiber glass over it, messy stuff LOL. Waiting for it to fully harden then sand and cover.

Console done and installed, will get pics as soon as i can. came out pretty dang good. learned a few things that would make it easier and better if I do it over. Fills in that blank spot under the radio are great. Even made a new shift boot to match and it also looks good. Spent maybe 40 bucks and have a cool looking console. Like I said post pics as soon as I can get some, got to borrow a camera, do not have a digi that works well enough.
