Car: TBD - considering M35 Sport or M45

Post

Looking to join the Infiniti family.
I'm on a budget and want to spend $15k or less. I've found quite a few non-Sport models with 60-75k miles in that price range, and most Sport models are priced much higher even with mileage. The thing is, I found my unicorn :woot: :woot: :
2011 M37xS
Moonlight White Exterior
Java Leather Interior

The car has 98k miles and they are asking $13,800. It looks extremely clean and seems to be well cared for as well. It is a Northern car, but I see no rust or signs of it. Opinions on a purchase like this? I would like to add an extended warranty too.

Anything I need to look out for? Major Service coming up etc., etc?

Welcome to the forum!

I don't know if you'll be able to get an Infiniti Elite extended plan at that mileage, and I'm not sure of any other companies that are as good.

I didn't think the X was available with the Sport package. IS this the car?

IT looks nice but does not have the sport package...Has the brakes, but missing paddle shifters, and trim color.

I have 76k on my M37s and it runs strong, but with as tech savvy as these are a warranty would be worth the money.

That is the car. I have some reservations, but am really interested in it as it is exactly what I want. If it's not a sport I can deal with that because I like the options and appearance. I assumed 2011s didn't have paddle shifters. Glad I'm asking.

any other thoughts/opinions?

Wow that is a steal. I paid $20k for my 2012 M37x with 82,000 miles.

I added the paddle shifters to my non-Sport model for about $600. Worth it and easy to do. Next time I do brakes, I'm getting factory Sport brake parts. Just wish I had the spoiler and front grill, too. That's too much money for me to justify.

As for maintenance, just change all fluids, filters, and PCV valves right away. Those are the basics. From there, change spark plugs if you desire - they should be fine, though. Maybe suspension components may need replacement down the line - my 2012 w/ 90k miles still has factory suspension except I just changed the front swaybar end-links.

Only 2013 X models were available with the sport packages. 2011 and 2012 sport models were RWD only.

I'd love to see a pic of yours. That's somewhat reassuring to hear. Do most start to have the suspension issues at 100k or so? Paddle-shifters are nice but not a necessity. I'd rather have a 6 spd manual honestly

I can't comment on when suspension components start to go bad. It's probably more related to the abuses they went through vs. miles or age. I come from Cleveland, OH so up that way the roads were terrible. Suspensions would last well less than 100k miles before issues arose. I'm in Dayton, OH now and the roads are much better thanks to less salt use. My car came from Pennsylvania, still in the salt belt. No rust on it.

Yes, those roads ARE terrible!! I'm from Cleveland Heights originally and lived in Akron as well. I may see if we can make a deal

Not a sport but has the sport bumper and brakes, not to mention the FX50 21" wheels on there.

Looks good! I have a 2011 M56x in white with the java interior. Great combo! If you go with it, make sure you get all maintenance done and buy a warranty. If you can get an Infiniti Elite warranty, GET IT.

Look like it has the Deluxe Touring Package (based on the seats). Those seats are much more comfortable than the standard seats. Also included in that package is the rear sun shade, speakers in the seats, and the beautiful white ash wood trim with silver rubbed in.

Also looks like the PO added Sport brakes and the sport bumper. The VQ engine is very reliable. There are many examples of G37s well into the 100K mileage range. If you do get it, I would change out all fluids, including diff and transmission fluids, and spark plugs, or maybe that's something you can work out as part of the deal. Not a huge fan of the wheels, but you can always change that out.

For $13.5K, I would strongly consider, assuming it drives very well.
