Hello,
I recently started my car search and think the M Infiniti seems like a great fit. Aside from the obvious (specs, hp #s etc...) what are the major differences between the M35, M37 and M35h? Is one vastly superior to the other? Is there a significant update or difference between model years? Are there problem areas I should be aware of when looking at the cars? Thanks for any and all help!

Welcome to NICO. That is quite the question. I should first tell you that the only model that stands far and away different is the M35h. That is Infiniti's hybrid model - but not a hybrid in the Toyota Prius sense. The M35h uses both gasoline AND electric motor for HP and torque making it more powerful than the M35 or M37, yet with the greatest mpg of all M's.
The interior is basically the same for all three of the models you mentioned - minus differences in the dashboard design and trim pieces. Aside from the M35h, they provide nearly the same mpg and all are extremely well made and reliable.

The earlier M35 (2006-2007) has a 3.5L engine and 5-speed gear box.

The next newest M35 (2008-2010) also has the same 3.5L engine but with a 7-speed gear box and cosmetic changes to grille and rear end.

The M37 (2011-2013) has a different body design, but the same interior since 2006 but with a different dashboard layout. It has a 3.7L engine and a 7-speed gear box.

The Q70 (2014 and up) is the 2011-2013 M37 with a different grille and rear end.

That said, and having owned both the 5 and 7 speed gearbox models, I would choose the years with the 7 speed gearbox. You will get slightly better mpg on long trips (less revs at higher speeds).

The best thing to do is google each of these to see the differences in body style. After that, decide which options you want in your M and then look for the best price with the options you want.

Is the M35h more troublesome because of the hybrid drivetrain? One of the reasons I think the M is such a great choice is the reliability. Thanks!
