So my tires are getting a little old. As you all know ive been wanting a wheel upgrade for a while. My Options are: winter tires on my stock wheels or get some sweet tires/wheels for all year around and have a cool aggressive wheel all year round

my questions:

-I dont want my speedometer to be too off....anyway i can adjust it?-I want my wheels to stick out at least an inch from the fenders....i need axle extensions right? any problems with doing this? will it screw up my alignment? cost to get them installed and parts?-I live in a city area, with rural areas about 30mins away...i wont be going offroad much, but i like the option to. Am i being impractical getting tires like this....i want a real aggressive look, something that looks offroady and stands out but can last on teh street. I dont want to have to get new tires after a year

Im really getting sick of the cost of shiny blingy wheels, everyone wants them, and everyone has them. i want a meaner looking q and this will probably be more efficient for me since i wont have to switch between winter and summer tires/wheels. Its an offroad vehicle. so i wanna make it look like one, but make it practical for the street.

ANY input is greatly appreciated

sheeeeit, do it!

dont get axle extensions as they are not as secure. U just need a rim with the right backspacing. (like 3.75"-4") Dont even worry bout the #'s just get the shop to try the rims on (front rim) for you and turn the front wheel to each side make sure it dont rub anywhere.

a new set of 16's mounted with BFG tires runs about $1000 around here. Maybe like $800 with more generic all-terrains. I dont know why but the new trend is black rims with a few chrome stripes, i tested some like that and think they look sick on black QX4 but i didnt buy them.

Honestly i'd even go get a quote at pep boys. They have decent all-terrains for cheap if you get a coupon from the newspaper

This is what I think both of you should do lol. You both have black qx4s and dont feel like lifting, or at least fueler. Get a 265/70R16 or 265/75R16 BFG AT on a 4" BS wheel of your choice. For black trucks like mine i love going with just the black wheel. Ive got the black steelies on mine. Then so a small small lift. 1" spacer front and rear just to clear those tires. This way you'll hardly notice any CV vibe cause they wont be at any angle. And you'll have just a little bit more ground clearance and clearance for your tires. Thats what I would do if i was you.

FYI for the BFG AT the 265/70R16 size is a 30.6 and the 265/75R16 is a 31.6

sounds great guys! im in school again this month until end of april then im back to work so im expecting to maybe get some sort of wheel/tire upgrade in the summer.

We dont have pep boys around here, def gunna keep my eye open for off road tire places in the GTA. If its around $1000 for the setup ill be very happy.

How much would a 2"lift cost me? would 265/70/16's look good? how much worse will my gas mileage be and am i putting too much extra strain on my drivetrain?

I dunno if youve seen my car with the 20's, but they were 285/45/20 and they rubbed ever so little. Only reason I took those off is because of the HUGE difference they make in stopping distance, the difference was night and day they were horrible.

I went thru the same bs your talkin about and ended up just painting my stock rims black (mind you 01+ look different, i think there pretty cool) and went with an allseason tire cause they were on sale buy one get one free.

There defientely no place to offroad around here, so why strain your car and budget if your not gonna do it, fun in the snow is about all we have lol

All black ftw

i hear you. your q looks good! first glance those wheels didnt look stock! I guess im getting sick of seeing all these Q's around here with 22's n crap. Dont get me wrong, it looks sexy, but when i see a old 4 runner with some huge mud tires and a lift.....it gets to me more. And seeing how its an SUV, you may not go off road often, but id rather have some huge tires i can hop curbs in, screw around with, and not have to change in the winter. Not to mention i wanna make those civics feel like i can run them over. Issue is stopping and gas mileage and extra strain on my drivetrain, im still undecided but im itching for muddies.

btw...if your ever out near georgetown go up clayhill....its a clay road that goes up pretty high, around some homes, then back down, its a fun drive and the closest my q's been to off roading lmao if i got muddies id probably explore more. but i dont wanna scratch up my paint too much so id keep it low key

If you want a good daily street tire but something that looks aggressive & will do well offroading some trails & what not then get the 2" lift from AC (like $650-700) & some BFG Allterrains 265/75/16 on 16x8 black rock crawlers with 4" of BS (of course I'm a bit partial to the black rock crawlers).

If you want to get kinda fancy when it comes to the rims you caould always go with something like this http://www.ntwonline.com/TYPE_...5.cfm & the same AT tires. That'd be badassness!

Funk it, this summer after I get all of my sh*t in order (you hearin me Alex?) & I get everything the way I want I'll make a freakin page & embarrass (or however the hell you spell it)the hell outta everyone else...

BTW Qxxx4, sorry to thread jack man, we kinda had our own little Poho goin' on here...
