Unfortunately, it will be very difficult to find something decent for in the ballpark of $2000 that isn't either beat to tell, or needs some major engine work.If you are going to go for a Z, I would keep saving until you can buy one that you know was taken care of and that you know will run for a long time after your purchase. If you do happen to score one, make sure to get someone local to you that knows Z's to go through it with a fine tooth comb.Good luck!-Kev

like shift said, it'll be difficult to find a Z32 (90-96 300ZX) for 2K but finding clean non-turbos for a decent price (under 5K) isn't difficult. Just make sure you do your homework and get a solid one.

The cars are absolutely a blast though, I wanted one since I saw them in 90. Ended up getting my TT and am happily enjoying every dollar put into it

If you can swing the payment + ins. then just get a loan for the extra cost. The Z32 is such a great car. I had a 1991 300zx 2+2 auto for a few years. It was an awesome car and got me back into Nissan.

Well things to look for if you go for it....make sure the timing belt has been changed if it is over 60k miles ...check wire harness connections in the early 90-91 models they had a few problems with corrsion and bad connection especially on the angle sensor. If it turbo make sure they are not leaky (most have about a 100k lifespan) also make sure the T-tops are in good shape no leaks.....and my advice for your first mod is a brake upgrade....the stock brakes get over heated and warp quickly especially once you start adding HP..so before you add the GO!! make sure you can stop.....good luck and happy hunting

actually i found a 92 300ZX, non turbo, 5 speed, 130,000 miles, black w/ cloth interior (didnt see the inside yet)dude says that he wants $3,700, im thinkin that i can get him to go to 3 grandso the wheels are in motion to sell the Qhope everything works nice, i've always loved the 300XZo yeah, and i few questions bout the Z:whats the configuration of the suspension? like are there upper and lower control arms? independent suspension?will my 17" G35 5 spoke wheels fit on it?i heard that the Z got a strong transmission? is that true?and if i do get the car, i want the exhaust to sound like the current 350Z/Gcoupes, is it possible?

-the suspension is independent and very capable and tunable-your G35 wheels will fit-transmission is super strong-it won't sound like a 350Z, it will sound like a 300ZX

So you specifically DON'T want a turbo? Because for $2-3k, you can probably pick up a fairly nice Z31 turbo.

I've been jonesing for an '88 Shiro Z lately, not that there are ever any for sale.
