Hello all,

New here but any input is appreciated. I have to get rid of my g37( too many miles and need more rear seat leg room for kids). I came across a 2013 M37 with 21000 miles on it for about $23,000 USD. I like German cars too but the Infiniti is much more my style.

My main concern is over the reliability. Carfax is clean, 1 owner, so no real red flags. Just curious to see how other M37s have held up since 2013. I love this car and it could be perfect.

REALLY hoping for some good news but im not a mechanic and can basically just change the oil, so I don't want to buy a money pit.

Thoughts? Thanks in advance

DO IT!!

Mechanically the car is sound, the VQ engine is almost bulletproof, just like the G37.
The expensive bits are the electronics and other gizmos, a few guys have reported issues with the 4WAS (4 wheel steering) which is really costly if paying out of pocket.

My suggestion is to get an Elite Infiniti warranty - do a search in our forum and you'll find the appropriate links. It is totally worth it if you have a major issue with the car and could pay for itself in one visit to the dealer. Then you won't have to worry about for like 2-5 years depending on how much you want to pay and what deductible you're okay with.

Having said that, mine is now over 75k on the odometer and I bought it almost 2 years ago, used with 55k. I've had no mechanical issues, but blew out a BCM/individual circuit putting in LED bulbs that was luckily repaired under warranty. I've since put R2C intakes on it and some PCV oil catch cans (only engine mods) and she drives fine.

I love my car, and I'll probably drive it until it falls apart, unless there is a major update to the Q70.

Thanks for that feedback... that's great to hear. That elite warranty looks good too. Anyone else?

Go for it, I have a 2011 that had a little over 55k that I got in 2013 and like stated earlier engines are very good. I have a little over 83k on her now. Car is worth it.

I picked up a 2013 M37x in August, and it's been fantastic. Coming from the G, you'll absolutely love it - I had 2 G37xS's back to back (a 2010 and a 2013) that I had leased prior to buying my M. Performance is very similar as the M does not weigh significantly more, and the level of luxury on the interior is truly a step up. I'm particularly liking the heated steering wheel these days, as the weather is starting to get colder!

A 2013 with such low mileage, and that price, is rare. Most 2013 M's by this time would have at least twice that mileage and wear. You definitely should get the extended warranty as well. If the car is at CarMax, get the max-care warranty because it cover more things than the Infiniti warranty and goes for longer miles and years. If not, definitely get the Infiniti warranty. All cars require semi costly maintenance and Inifniti's are no exception. The warranty ensures maintenance will be all the expenses you will have.
Assuming you are financing, the last thing you need is a car payment plus a $500 repair in the same month.
That said, I say buy the car, then take it to your closest Infiniti dealer for an oil / filter change. They will give the car a squinz, run a check on the history of the car, and document anything that might need attention. That will give you a base line for tires, brakes, and other maintenance. I recommend Mobil-1 5w30 and my dealer allows me to bring my own as they don't carry it. At tire time, do not skimp. Stick with ultra high or high performance all season tires like Pirelli, Michelin, or Continental. Average tires like Goodyear, Cooper, General, etc will not give you the quality of ride these cars are capable of.

The CarFax should tell you exactly how much time and mileage you have left on the warranty. Your powertrain should be covered for a while. I bought a 2013 a few months ago (with about 48K) and that helped me make the decision (along with it being a one owner with lots of service records). It's still early but so far it's been great. I won't speak for everyone but my experience when taking it into Infiniti for service has been great also, even though I did not buy it from them. I had a check engine light on that turned out to be a leaky gas cap (covered under warranty). No other issues so far. The backseat room is definitely a huge plus with kids. Performance is subjective but I'm sure it will be similar to the G, and it should feel like a step up in the luxury department especially if it has the deluxe touring package.

great car. my only gripe is the 7AT shift pattern in my 2011. they got it sorted out by 2013 though. it just seems to hunt for gears and require a bit too much input to get it to downshift. the transmission update helped out some but still bothers me.

I suspect they may have sorted it out some more, as my 2013 has been absolutely fine. At the very least, it seems to feel exactly as the 7AT did in both of my G37's.

I agree with the others here that if there are no red flags the car sounds like a great purchase. The mileage is low for the price and if the dealer scans the VIN and nothing bad comes up it will still be covered for the remaining factory warranty, plus you can always add on coverage if you like. These are definitely super reliable cars, and they cost practically nothing to maintain in comparison to used German cars.

How was your experience owning the G? The M's reliability should be identical as they share many parts.

I have a 2013 M37x with 50,000. Car has been flawless with no mechanical or electronic failures. I used to complain about the slugish shift patterns when driven in very hilly areas. Since moving to Florida where it is flat, no longer an issue to me.
Only maintenance above oil and filter(s) so far is recent brakes and tires. Very reliable cars IMHO.

UPDATE

So I bought the car and it’s fantastic so far except for one thing. There’s a dash squeak/rattle that I didn’t notice during the test drive but it’s there and it’s annoying.

Here’s a video to hear it. Is this a common issue/fixable without a headache? It’s annoying enough to where if it can’t be fixed I could return the car.

Thanks!

Congratulations on the purchase.
See the little bridge of dashboard material between the windshield defrost vents? Push down on that area and see if it quits.

If that actually helps, then it's fixable by jamming your favorite material between that spot and the windshield. I should know, my 03 M45 had it bad and some weatherstrip did the trick. (Listen from the 15 second mark in the video below, until you get bored. lol)

I would be perfectly content with that kind of fix for my old car, but if I paid 20k for my car, I'd probably try to get that fixed.
