Noisier, wear pads quicker, probably cost more because you buy them with the idea of a performance upgrade, when actually, they make a dull howl when braking, and wear standard pads faster, costing more money. The slots work a bit like a razor blade on your pads, shearing them quickly..
Like cross drilled rotors, slotted are more about novelty than actual performance in the real-world daily commute.
Thicker, larger rotors dissipate heat better, helping to prevent brake fade. More mass = better braking
