I have an idea I am very interested in pursuing but it involves requesting data from the ecu. I need to be able to access RPM information as well as the codes so I can send them to a mini computer I will have in my car. Basically I'm going to have a Raspberry pi 2 as a computer in my double din stereo that will access RPM data and change the color of the in car lighting when the RPMs increase. I also want to be able to access codes so I can access them through the Raspberry pi 2 unit. If you are not familiar with a Raspberry pi 2 please click this link...

Also I have found PLMS cables and software to connect to the Raspberry pi 2...

http://twinchip.com/product_info.php?la ... -plms.html&

So my main concern is, is this possible? To request data via obd1 or should I splice into the wire transmitting RPM data? Your reaponse is always appreciated, thank you for your time.

The consult connector under the dash has the ability to output RPM and loads of other data, getting the interface to work for you is another story.
