Congress has absolutely no business having hearings about the Toyota fiasco right now. We have the National Highway Transportation people to deal with the problem in the here and now. A Congressional investigation with hearings might (and I stress might) be warranted but only after the people responsible for dealing with it have had a chance to do what we pay them to do.

I see Congress as taking this opportunity to deflect and distract public and press attention from the fact that they are not capable of doing work that we pay them to do. They have much bigger responsibilities they refuse to take care of. They need to get spending and the deficit under control.

Gee, it's not like Congress doesn't have better things on their list. Maybe they should start investigating baseball again as well as THAT was a great use of our time and money....

I see it as more of a chance to get at Toyota, a competitor, than anything else. Congress does have plenty other things to do that are much more worthy of the money we pay them.

**insert Chis Crocker saying "leave Toyota alone!**

The U.S. Government wouldn't happen to be trying to cut into Toyota's sales by doing all of this, to help Government Motors(formerly known as General Motors) would it? Nahh...

You guys are assuming tht congress has a clue about competition and running a business. They obviously don't. Please don't give them credit for doing something they've proven they're incapable of.

I said EXACTLY this last night, out loud, to my television.

Who the HELL do they think they are? As much as I think Toyota is fully culpable for their recall issues, I REALLY wish the President (Mr. Toyoda) would have said, "How about you guys kiss my Japanese a$$."

Congress has no right to ask ANYONE ANYTHING right now. They're a rogue's gallery of criminals, cheats, thieves, liars, panderers and miscreants, and there's a real lack of integrity there.

And yes, it's looking very much like a thinly-veiled ploy to prop-up the most pathetically inept vehicle manufacturer in the world: GM.

None of them seem to have a clue as to running a country either but that does not stop them from believing they are subject matter experts.....
