confused, seeking assistance.

Well my 240 had a tiny problem... it made this sound almost like a clink clink sound...it was constant when idle but when engine was rev. up the noise went away...my water pump the weeper hole gave so it started to drain fluids...i changed it the sound went away for a bit then came back...the sound is hard to describe but it almost sounds like something is hitting.....

has anyone experienced this before

Need more info. Where is the sound coming from the water pump area, the head, the block, how about a video with audio. Your fan could be hitting the shroud, just of the top of my head in the water pump area, seeing as you had to move it to change the water pump.
