I have done my research and have come up somewhat empty handed on what alt goes and a redtop SR. I have read that you could use either the KA24E or DE alternator. Some places told me to just use the DE alt. Which I also found out the you have to also change out the pullie and drill out a hole I think? I anyone could share this infomation i would highly appreciate it. I had my alt. tested today and they said it was giving out 12V. I dont know if this is bad or good, but basically told i was going to need a new alternator.

yeah your alternator should put out around 14 volts when running it has to be a higher voltage than the battery or it won't charge it. I have a DE alternator on my SR, the part you can drill is the hole for the tensioner. You just drill the threads out of the DE alternator so you can use the SR hardware on it. I made a hybrid tensioner system with parts for both without redrilling the tension hole, but to lock the alternator in place the tensioner bolt has to be tightened from the back. I would like to drill out the hole and move the hardware someday.

yeah, get a DE alternator. i've got one on mine. just change the pullies and drill the threads out of the tensioner hole. it's pretty easy.

I used the ka tensioner and it works. Also did anyone have to grind a lip away that is behind the pulley? When I swapped my pully I had to grind just a bit on the alt. housing to make the pulley not bind.
