Today, I went to a local tire/rim shop and asked the guy if they carried SportMax wheels, especially the 17" 962 model. He mentioned to me that the rims would not work correctly with the tires that I have (in storage). I have (5) Continental ExtremeContact 225/45ZR17 tires by the way. He also told me that the fronts 17"x7" rims would make tires bow inwards while the back 17"x9" would spread out the tires too much. Please...could anybody give me some insight if this is true or not???

The staggered rim set I want is this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...ZWDVW

yeah itll be really funny running that size tire like that

id say just get the 17x9s all around but they need spacers in front to clear coilovers, so that presents another issue, and the 17x7 will be just bad

if you dont mind running the spacers get 17x9 all around, otherwise youll need to find different wheels to use those tires

Yeah...I did see a set of 17x9's for about the same price as the staggered set. What size spacers should I use? This weekend, I am going to replace the stock struts with KYB GR2's and Megan lowering springs. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that I got those tires for free.....that's why I want to use them. I can't seem to find anyone to buy them though. Most of the guys I know are rollin' in Hondas.

Yeah, like nismo said run 15 mm spacers all the way around. Most guys with 17x9 +20's run 235/40/17's, but you will be fine with the 225/45/17's. In fact, itll require a little less fender rolling since the tire will be stretched more.

Now that I have checked out the prices on some reputable 15mm wheel spacers, it seems that I may be better off with another tire/rim setup. 4 spacers will run about $225 or so.... plus the rims. I'm not sure if that is the way I wanna go.

yeah thats why i said you might want to just find different wheels

you should look into MB weapons in 17x9 +17, theyre in that price range, and look better too

I'm glad that you came to this conclusion on your own.

It seems like people lately are buying wheels because of how cheap they are and are bent on throwing spacers on to flush them out only to find out that it will cost the same as getting wheels with the correct offset in the first place.

Yeah....those MB Weapons look nice, but not in the 4 x 114.3 bolt pattern. I don't have a 5-lug conversion on my coupe.

You gotta hate the way most of the wheels you want to buy are 5-lug.

Yeah I really wish I would of waited and saved up a little more money. I think when most people have never had wheels, they just want about anything. Than after you have wheels you start becoming more selective. Anybody want some half mesh 2-piece Rays's wheels. 16/8 +33? lol
