okay after much research i have decided to go with the turbo ka. changed from sr to ca, and now finally turbo ka for sure. well my question is has anyone trying hacking the mafs on the s13's, with the ka24de?? if so how would you do it? i have done some research and have come up with mix ideas. if it can't be done or a pain in the ***, would it be easier to hook up a safc II? i plan on running the regular set up as everyone around here, t3/t4, fuel pump, super afc II or hacked mafs, custom intercooler and pipings, 370 injectors, jgs mani ( are these mani's good, can they hold up and not warp or crack, any one have any experience? ), and all the other turbo stuff. i live around a whole bunch of dsm gurus, so they can help with the tuning and turbo install and parts, but they don't know too much, obviously, about tuning the fuel and knock on nissans. so please help..:help plus is the msd knock and boost retard sensors good investments, like reliability wise if i'm just running this simple set up with 7-10 pounds??

Your not going to need a hacked mafs if you are purchasing an air-fuel controller anyhow. You can source a simple s'afc for cheap and allows for far more flexibility than a hacked mafs.

What sort of power are you looking for?

that sounds good. i'm looking to get around 250-300 whp. i know the limit of the 370 injectors are around 230-250, so i won't push it. how hard is it to tune the safc, for air/ fuel?? anything else i should do for reliability issues?? such as fpr, timing retard boxes, etc...?

Are you sure about that? I thought I've heard of people running in the 300's with stock sr injectors. I could definitely be wrong though.

well not 100% positive, you probably can push it 300hp, but for sure your living on the edge. maybe with really good tuning and a badass magic box. but i like to live on the safe side, knowing that i'm not a millionaire. and why risk it when you can just get larger injectors...

After my turbo kit is installed, I am beginning work on a project that uses two S13 MAFs, one dead, one live, in parallel, with a plenum to split and combine the air pre and post. I've got the spare MAF and will be hitting up Lowe's for aluminum sheet and some nifty HVAC stuff I found.

Keep an ear out, I'll absolutely post copious pics and data when I get cracking on it.

For the noobs, this will theoretically enable you to run 550cc injectors on the stock ECU with no fuel correction, have it slightly rich, and should double the airflow limit of the stock S13 MAF.

I've done extensive measuring and inspection of my spare MAF, and it's pretty obvious that the S14 trick will *not* work for us. There's a lot of machined metal, and this weird duct that serves as the 'exhaust' for the MAF port.

yeah after you do your project inform us of what happens. i guess my only option now is the s-afc. well here is another quick question... is the s-afc2 alot better than the the original. i know the second one has like alot of better features and a feature that helps you detect knock. has any body tried, how is it. from what i read this sounds like the ****- miracle afc.

Knock detection is just a readout of the stock knock sensor on the s'afc 2.

You can push your SR injectors much further with more fuel pressure. With more fuel pressure, when the injectors open, more fuel will flow. Too much fuel pressure is dangerous though.

so that knock sensor thing is kinda useless huh? but it's still pretty cool to know when your engine is knocking so you can back off the throttle. and how much retarding do you guys recommend with a simple set up?? should i buy a boost related retarding box, like a msd one?? or just retard permenently, with the distributer??

Well a retard box like the MSD BTM is probably better than a base retard if your willing to spend the dough. If not, a base retard of .5* per psi of boost is usually recommended (8 psi--> 4* retard)
