Ok I am confused about what is needed for a turbo kit. Please look at this list and let me know what you think. I don’t feel like spending the 3 grand or what ever it is for an already made kit, so I want to source the parts myself. I have a very mechanical inclination and love to do stuff myself. Luckily I have mechanic friends to bail me out when I get trapped! Here is the list I have compiled so far:

TurbochargerTurbo ManifoldWastegate unless the turbo is internally gatedEither custom steel piping, or silicon piping with silicon joints (with silicon clamps)Blow off valveBraided oil to/return lines with fittingsFuel PumpColder sparkplugs

And optional but necessary items:IntercoolerIntercooler pipingTurbo TimerBoost controllerBoost gaugeFuel management softwareLarger injectors

Let me know what you guys think

ok thanks for the prompt reply. Can you think of anything that I left off, that I need to complete the kit?

you have everything you need, however, you NEED an intercooler, and you NEED a boost gauge to keep things in check (they are only 40 bucks) if you are going to run on stock fuel, you better know that PSI you are running.

Which will be 3-4 with no intercooler 4-5 with one

thanks agian for the reply. I was planning on running everything on both my lists except the fallowing until I had the spare cash to add them:Turbo Timer, Boost controller, Fuel management software, Larger injectors

well that’s what I’m doing, first running 4-5 psi on stock fuel (except fuel pump and an FMU) then upgrading

Yeah, you'll want to do the I/C and boost gauge for sure. And something for fuel management, the cheapest and most upgradeable route is to get some larger injectors and a AFC or something similar. Don't get an FMU, you won't need it later when you decide that 12 psi sounds like fun and you have to buy the other stuff anyway. Also you didn't mention a downpipe, unless you include that as part of your manifold. Imo, it usually the biggest pita to aquire of all.
