For the past couple days i have been thinking of suspension, I'm not a fan of the stock height, and my suspension right now feels kinda unstable. The cars pretty much a project/occasional driver/Weekend driver kind of thing. Roads aren't so bad around here, you just gotta know which ones to not go down, and watch for holes lol. I heard people complaining about coilovers being to stiff and they don't like the shake of the car, how bad is it really? I want something not too expensive, and that will do its job with height adjustment, and that will last and not end up breaking in a few months to a year..Any suggestions? What are you rolling with and how does it feel?

You cant really worry about price and ride quality of coils. You have to be ready to spend cash to get a good ride quality coil. Or patrol the classifieds for some used ones..

Different coilovers provide different levels of comfort...

For example the Buddy Club D1 kit will be more comfortable than the Buddy Club Racing Spec kit.
The Tanabe Sustec Pro SO-C kit will be more comfortable than the Sustec Pro Seven kit.

Lightweight wheels also help make a more comfortable ride by reducing the unsprung weight, basically meaning that the coilovers can react to imperfections in the road quicker.

Coilovers really aren't that bad. There is a huge difference from when I say I'm in the 240 as compared to driving my Mazda, but it's not that bad.

Good luck dude.

coilovers ride softness is determined by its spring rate and the dampening, coilovers meant for more track use will have higher spring rates and dampening that is aggressive even on full soft while coilovers that are meant to be more streetable will have softer springs and more mild dampening on full soft as well as full stiff

another plus is those that arnt made for serious driving are ususally cheaper and as for lasting quality it should depend on the make and model of the coilover

look for something with an 8kg/mm front and 6kg/mm rear backed by a warranty or a nice rebuild policy

Hmm, i see, i dont wanna go to cheap..but also dont wanna go real expensive either..considering im not like going all out track or dift lol. I just really want a nice stance and a nice ride at the same time lol, Something not too rough for driving throughout the day, but a bit of a shake doesnt bother me..Any brands that you guys suggest to get and to not get?

Get Megan if you want something cheap, their fine for street use. If you want name brand then Stance is the way to go.

I wouldn't over pay for Stance. I recommend PBM. You will be able to lower your car just as much, order softer springs if you like, and also be able to replace dampners should anything ever happen. $1000 for all four.

Save the money and get quality coilovers. It will be worth it in the end. I'm researching right now and I've narrowed my choices down to Tein Flex, HKS Hipermax III, and KW Variant 3 in terms of ride and quality of parts/service. There's a sale going on for KW Variant 3 Coils btw. 240sxmotoring.com has a good price on them. You know they're good when they have a limited lifetime warranty. I'm probably going to go with the first two just because you can adjust the ride height separate from pre-load and I like that. The last two are made to last, dustboots, stainless steel, lots of anti-corrosion coating, etc. I just wish I knew something about HKS's customer service---I can't seem to find anyone that really sells their coils which seems like a bad sign.
