This is not a thorough answer, but if memory serves, the engines do vary a bit from year to year.
Coil packs are different, throttle body assemblies and throttle cable linkages are different.
And a few sensors are different as well, meaning they'll have different connectors (MAF sensor for one).
Check everything on your old engine against the wrecker, and make sure you get everything you need to make them compatible.
Also, make darn sure that the engine come from a truck with the same transmission as yours.
The engines are not the same on an auto transmission truck vs. a 5 speed.
I'm sure there's more, but that's all that comes to mind right now.
