What's going on guys ? Today I had something that I've seen once before but it corrected itself. I parked my car and turned it off, or so I thought. I pressed the ignition to turn it off and when I did, the Navi screen and my radio were still on. I tried to turn it on and off a couple of times to no avail. I took it to the dealer and they are stumped. They tried to tell me that it was my alarm, then it was my sub, then it was my capacitor. None of these things were an issue before today and I don't image them being the cause of the issue. They draw power, they don't keep the car from shutting off. Anyway, my question is has anyone else ever seen the message "configuration failed because consult is connected. Please disconnect the consult." ? If so, can you please tell me how to remedy it. Right now the only thing I've done is to unplug my battery for he time being.

I may not be remembering my incident correctly, and I'm sure this scenario isnt exactly like yours, but it may help pointing towards the right direction. If I remember correctly, a few times I tried to turn the car off and still had the car in gear, it prevented the components from shutting down properly. That being said, maybe there is a fault in your systm that thinks the car is still in gear instead of park.

This thread is related to your issue:

OP never posted in it so not sure how it was resolved but a couple of suggestions in there.

I Have a CompuStar remote start in my M and it has a bypass module that taps into the ecu. So every time I remote start my car I get the same error. I think it uses the consult protocol and when the car starts it recognizes the bypass module using the consult protocol and is warning me about it.

Do you know if your (after market) alarm taps into this, too? For example the immobilizer part of it?
