If it's an aftermarket temp gauge, it should have come with a water temp sensor. In that case, you would need some kind of sensor adapter that the water temp sensor screws into, and that adapter gets clamped into the radiator hose.

If you're using a narrowband air/fuel gauge, it should be simple enough. Im assumign these are the wire colors, but red wire is a 12v ignition power source, meaning a 12v source that's only on when your car is on, such as the cd player power wire. Black wire goes to a ground, white wire(I think it should be white), would be your illumination wire. That hooks up to some light source such as the headlight power wire or parking light wire. The final wire is your signal wire which should get tapped into the o2 ecu wire. Refer to the FSM for which one that is.

If you haven't figured out already...

There are two temp sensors. Both are located in the same place where the upper radiator hose joins the engine. The one on the left (probably red) is the ECT sensor that feeds the ECU. It has two wires. The one to the right (black) with a single wire feeds the gauge. As far as how to wire it, I hope you have instructions.

Poor pic, but they are in behind those wires in the red circle.

What type of gauge is it? Is it an electronic gauge or do you have to run a line to your engine. I just hooked up four autometer gauges in my dash.1.oil pressure gauge.2.volt gauge.3.water temp gauge.4.air/fuel gauge. For my oil gauge I had to run a copper oil line to the stock oil pressure sending unit and put them on a (T) so both would still work. For my volt gauge I just had to run a +12v accessery to it and ground it to the car.For my water temp gauge I had to run a wire through my fire wall and over to where my stock water temp sending unit was. (now for mine it came with a senson to put in my car so I drilled the right size hole and tapped it to the proper thred size, now befor I did this I unhooked my upper radiator hose and stuffed a shop rag in there so all the metal shaveings would be cought in the rag. Then I hooked the other two conections on the gauge to +12v accessory and the other to ground.Sooo... if yours doesen't need a tube or line run to your motor you can probably hook the wire up to the stock sending unit (the one with only one wire)and as for my air/fuel gauge red should be +12v accessery, black should be your ground, white if it has it will be illumination to your parking lights, and on mine it was purple should go to your O2 senson. Sorry i'm so long winded but i'm trying to be detailed.

Hope this helps!

Hey, great tips, two questions tho.

1) I tapped into the stock water temp gauge, but its not working correctly. Basically, it actually reads tempature, just when the engine isnt turning over. As soon as the engine is on, the needle will bounce from the current temp, to the very max, and keep bouncing back and forth. as soon as the engine is off (but the car is in acc, so the gauge has power) it reads the correct temp. what'd i do wrong?

2) where is the stock oil pressure tap? Can't seem to find it.

okay, two more questions:

3) is there a stock oil temp tap?

4) which wire on the coil should be the tap for my autometer tachometer?

I did a sunpro oil pressure gauge and all i did was run the plastic line that was included in the kit to the oil tap below the oil filter. To get it to fit right you have to tap it, i belive the stock thread count is 28 and the fitting was a 27 thread count. But the oil tap is the same on all ka engines, just look right below the oil filter on the extension from the block, there is a little allen head plug that is your oil tap good luck on the install
