Because of space constraints I replaced oem air filter with cone filter but found that my temp gauge went a little higher. As a trial I made a temporary airbox around the pod filter to restrict the intake of hot air from the engine bay. What a difference it made, not so much on the temp reading, but on throttle response. My advise to anyone with an exposed cone filter sitting in the engine bay is to definitely fit an airbox.

I made a airfilter heatshield sometime ago. I used a simple temp. gauge to measure the temps at the filter. At idle the shield kept the temps down alot. After a long period of driving the temps at the filter were almost the same. I've modded an area behind the headlight to let outside air into the filter area. This probably assisted in the lower temps while cruising without the heatshield.

you know that headlight cover with the gap for air circulation? wouldn't it be a bad idea to have it during rainy days?

A little bit of water just cleans the valves

It takes ALOT of water to hydrolock a motor, especially a low compression turbo motor that has enough charged temps to nearly vaporize water.

I posted this in another category before but here is what I did. The curve of the hood makes the hole sit not quite parallel to the ground but angled forward so I know at least a little bit of air is getting in there. The air filter sits just behind the hole so no direct rain fall lands on it but I made a plug just in case.
