Hello I've not been on here before but am searching for some answers for two very confused people! I'd really appreciate if anyone could go through this bill and tell us if it seems reasonable or not - the trader is saying that we are being ripped off as we are trying to gain recompense from him for selling with a false description...

The story is that we recently purchased a 2001 Nissan Almera turbo diesel 2.2 sport. Within a week of buying this from a trader who advertised it as recently serviced we started picking up on a noise when steering left at low speed. Trip to the garage revealed that -

Brake pipes were nearly completely rusted through. Considered to be dangerous. Both replaced - an awkward job as bolts and fixings rusted through also. Cost goods £44, labour £177.

Brake pads appeared to be almost brand new, but brake discs completely worn. Goods 86.76 labour £80.

All wiper blades required replacing. parts 21.00 labour 6.

tracking £22.50

Air con refuel £52.50

Replace driveshaft gater parts 18.99 labour £67.

Investagtive work totalled £77

Bleeding brakes fluid and cleaner cost 13.75 labour £20.

Basically the total bill including VAT is £860.32. Labour pre VAT is £473, the hourly charge is 45.50., so roughly 10 hrs work. Was informed it was actually 14 hrs work but that to keep to price quoted we have not been charged for this. Parts including air con is £259.19.

Are these reasonable costs? Please help!

We always warn used car buyers that the typical used car needs $3,000US [$1500 pounds] why it's offered for sale..............in US AS IS is AS IS.

Brakes and rubber parts are wear items, so is alignment, and leaking AC.

I would expect an almost 8 year old car to need more than you listed. How are shocks, belts, rubber suspension bushings.
