1995 240sx, everything stock.

Hey guys,(and girls)I just got my S14 like two weeks ago and it has a 180k miles on it, yes I know its bad, but my concern is when the engine seems to let go of the throttle by itself.

Lets say when I am running up to about 60mph and bout 4k rpm on 4-5 gear, while I am speeding up to that speed, the throttle doesn't respond all of a sudden, my foot is still on the same spot pressing the throttle down but my car starts to slow down and all of a sudden it would start accelerating again.

There is also some trouble at the rear end of the car, not sure what it is but the car seems to jolt, feels like stepping on brakes, then gassing, then braking, gassing, etc, when I hit about 2.3k rpm. This rarely happens but it still worries me.

Thanks in advance for any help, Jimmie

Have you searched on this subject? My recommendation would be to search and see what you can come up with. And welcome to NICO.

Hmm... well I'd gladly search for some answers if I knew what to look for, right now all I'm thinking about is if the engine is dying T_T, I'm a complete noob when it comes to my car, so I've been looking at some rebuild threads.

Any help is appreciated, Thanks

I'd start my search for "chugging", "hesitation" and "transmission jolt"

Yeah, hesitation seems to be part of the problem. Taken my car to a shop and have them diagnose it, hopefully its not too serious.

Bad news, damn, I found out that the bushings on my rear suspension cross member are toast and that it's not a serviceable part, double damn. So if I want the bumping/jolt to go I would have to purchase a new or used one and pay them for about 6 hours of labor.

The whole crossmember is loose, so sometime when I accelerate it makes "bump". Instead of paying for a used one for whatever about of money, or buy a new one for like $400, then pay them like $5-600 for labor, I'm thinking maybe I can somehow clamp it together..... any thoughts?

The constant jolting that I mentioned was appearantly caused by the maf sensor, and since it is still working now (just causing trouble occasionally) I picked up a can of CRC maf cleaner and hope that will fix the problem.

Thanks for the help you provided NSR A32, but it seems I have a new dilemma now.

No, you can't "just clamp it." What they mean by the bushings being "toast" is that they have rotted out and instead of providing a sort of go between two metal parts, the parts just bang together.

I see... well you've pretty much have it down, I only see two options right now, do it my way or do it the expensive way. lol. If I was gonna drive this car for like years, I would get it fixed properly but I only have about 6 months, till I ship out to boot camp, so I'm gonna try it my way. Thanks for the help.

Verify with the dealer on those bushings.Ihave a feeling those bushings are available. The dealer also has the tool set to replace them.As for the loss of acceleration try a TPS,they sometimes develop a dead spot under load.Dont comprimise safety with easy.NSRA32 has a strong point.
