For the past few days my comp has been running at 100% cpu capacity all the time, and running really slow. (Crtl+alt+del to find out the cpu usage)

It should not be using anything when my comp is just sitting idle.

I've done a few things to try and solve the problem, but nothing will work.

-Checked for background programs running-Checked for spyware/adware many times

Any explanation/solutions would be appreciated, thanks.

I fixed it, Rex reminded me to check for CPU percentages of each task, I was only looking at memory usage. Its been a long week...

It was a svchost.exe taking up all my resources. I wonder why it was doing that, its only used for the internet, right?

(yes, its windows XP)

thanks guys

Mwahaha. I won't be able to pick it up until Gamestop opens at 10:00...but then I've got a day full of headcrab smashing and combine burning ahead of me.

um...svchost.exe is used for almost everything. If its using up a lot of your resources, I think there are some other stuff running you don't know about. What programs did you use to check for spyware? Try using hijackthis. It'll show you what's going on.
