Some spyware crap got on my system yesterday and I've been dealing with getting rid of it ever since, about the only thing left is this thing that underlines "key" words for you to click and then go to some advertising CRAP.

Anyone have any suggestions (other than reformatting, which I haven't completrly reuled out :() as to how to get rid of it.

THANKS

spy bot search and destoryadaware

clean out temp files, look in the program files and windows folder for anything suspicious

See if you can uninstall anything

Search google for all of the procresses running in the task manager

Finally, convert to Firefox [http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/]

I have Adware 6.0 and use it regularly, normally will find a hand full of things once a week, now it's finding 10 to 12 things everytime I run it :(. Tried cleaning out all temp files, cache, and history, also uninstalled a handful of things. What REALLY bugs me is I'm careful and never just click "Ok" or "Yes". I even uninstalled/re-installed the google toolbar as it had been so good at blocking pop ups, thinking some part of it may have been disabled by something.

The google suggestion for things in Task Manager is a good one, I'll give that a try.

Swithcing over isn't really an option, work PC and they frown on lots I do, that would get me more than a frown.

Convince them that it will be more secure and less apt to being spywarized. Therefore you can spend more time on work related stuffs, less on fixing your computer ??

Rex, what firewall/security are you running? I have not had this problem yet, but we have at work. And it has been a royal pain in the butt.

I had some end up on my pc about a month back. Usually a search on the internet can provide you with some helpful sites. The spyware I had has a site you can go to to download a remover, but I was a bit weary of that. Found a site that told me how to manually remove it. It took me as far as cleaning out the registry. My IE has been loads faster since.

Had to Nuke & Pave :(. It got crazy and just couldn't get things "clean". They're pretty sure it was a trojan/spyware thing that someone got at work.

(goes back to rebuilding his system)

There really needs to be a law against this stuff.
