computer checking the ecu?????

I have problems with my 1990 240, idk exactly what, what can a diagnostic check on my ecu tell me about my engine?

first of all.. do you have a check engine light on and what is your engine doing??

yes i have a check engine light on, the problem is this, the motor shakes like it miss fires, it wont idle at all any more unless i give it gas (Ex. when i come to a stop light i pull my e brake slowly to slow down will i pump it with gas.) I had an ecu check done at the local shop. The ecu said the crank angle sensor COULD i repeat COULD be bad. so my question is this. With the symptoms i just gave u could it be the crank angle sensor and if so where is it located, how do i know if its bad, and how much to replace???

when was the last time a tune up was done? (distributer cap, plugs, wires)

if you don't know or a while, it wouldn't hurt, and you should be able to do it yourself

The crank angle sensor is in your distributor, and would cause the symptoms your described. If the CAS is broken, the injectors will fire at the wrong time.

First, be sure your timing is correct.

Is the crank angle sensor that little piece of plastic that spins inside the distributor box?

first of all... read the codes and you might find something out.

the machine didn't give a code the mechanic said "The machine tells me it COULD be the crank angel sensor"
