so from what ive read, when gettin an alarm it boils down to either compustar or DEI. My only thing about DEI is that it is so well known. The price of a DEI tho is very attractive in comparison to the compustar. But i figure that if i spend the extra money, ill be better off in the long run. Anyways, the question for this thread is if anyone knows who will install a compustar alarm? Best Buy? Circuit City? or do i have to go to an audio shop? Im in the south florida area so any help would b greatly appreciated.

Another side question is if i can't find anyone to do the compustar alarm, which dei product to choose? i know of the 791 but i see alot of damaged one's on ebay and that isnt very encouraging. Any others that come to mind? of course remember that we are all looking for the best bang for the buck when it comes to the dei stuff so any links would also be greatly appreciated.

Last time I checked the Compustar product wasn't FCC approved I think they are manufactured in alaska. DEI product is approved by the FCC for use inside of the United States. My co-worker has a compustar model from a few years back. Even though it's operation isn't legal it still seems to work fairly well, he is planning to get a Clifford within the next few weeks though. I prefer the Clifford and DEI products. If you have more questions let me know? All my friends like the Clifford Matrix RSX 3.5, with responder technology. It is basically the same as the Viper 791xv except the shock sensor is different, and it has red Clifford LED instead of the blue Viper LED. These are interchangeable however.

Clifford was purchased by DEI, now all the patents clifford owned also belong to Directed, the still produce the clifford brand name products, including the Matrix RSX3.5 and the 2.5, and the 1.5. These are all responder technology products. I believe the 2.5 is remote start though with no security features. The 1.5 is Security only with no Remote Start, and the 3.5 is a combination of the two.
