I have a 2004 I35 that I bought used 3 yrs ago. I really love this car, but at 95K miles it seems to be starting to burn oil, about a qt per 1K miles. I was thinking about doing a compression ck, but I've read that to change the plugs in the rear bank, you need to pull the plenum. So, how does one do a compression ck. The car previously belonged to an elderly gentleman that had it serviced at an Infiniti dealer and according to records, the plugs were replaced @ 57K.

You'll need to pull the plenum to do the compression check. Definitely a pain and takes some time, but not really that bad. Oil burning on these has always been a bit of a problem, and Nissan says that a quart per 1k is "normal"
