Does anyone know what the compression in the cylinders should be? Right now i just tested it and they all ready between 150-160. And i was just wondering if thats low or what, oh yeah there is a 100k miles on the engine.

What motor? If it's an SR, then you're OK IIRC...

If it's a KA24DE, then it's supposed to be 179 as "standard", and I think ~150 is the rebuild spec.

Did you test the motor warm, fuel pump fuse pulled out, and holding the throttle open???

Let us know - Brian

Yeah sorry my post was so vague(sp?) but i was kinda in a hurry and wanted to ask it before I left. Anyway, yeah it's a 92 KA24DE, i pulled the fuel pump fuse, it was warm I ran it about 20 mins before testing it. As for open throttle, we just cranked it over so i wasn't touching the gas.

thats probably the reason for the low reading. check it with throttle wide open, and take out all plugs, dont put oil in your cylinder, engine should be warm not hot. also dont use a cheap compression tester (plastic) or one that could be miscalibrated.

Alright, thanks. I will try it with the throttle open tomorrow.
