I've been attempting my sohc-->dohc swap for the longest time now (~8+ months) ... bein on a low budget and what not sucks but everything possible has gone wrong and I've finally got good news .... I've replaced just about everything on the engine and I did a compression test today and results were 210 across all 4 cylinders, which to my understanding is very good? anyways its just somewhat of a good thing to finally have somethig good happen for me and now I'm excited bout getting in the shop monday or tuesday and on the road later this week.

210 is actually pretty high for a normal KA24DE. It might just be a crappy compression tester. I know I got mine at Autozone for less than $20. Not exactly a precision instrument.

Was the car warmed up when you did it? All plugs removed? Fuel pressure relieved? Throttle wide open while testing?

At any rate, the fact that the #'s were all the same is a good thing.

I was hoping to get those numbers with high compression pistons. Did you do a simple swap to DOHC, or a hybrid of DOHC with SOHC pistons (the hybrid might get you somewhere in that range)?

just a simple SOHC-->DOHC (out of a 1992) ... no mods except replacing OEM parts like timing chain, water pump, thermo, etc.
