Alright, yesterday I decided to do a compression test on my motor before I start throwing my turbo stuff on. The motor is a 95 with 72k on it. I got 175-180 on 1,3,&4. On 2, I was only getting about 155 at first, but I don't think I had it cranking long enough. After cranking it a little longer than the other cylinders, it too was at 175. If anyone knows, is it bad if you need to crank it over 6-7 times before you reach max compression? The rest of the cylinders maxed out at 4-5 cranks, but #2 took 6-8 before it topped out. Motor was hot and throttle plate was open. I had a concern, because I get occasional overheating (1 time in the last month) and can't seem to get all the air out of the system. I was concerned that maybe the head gasket was leaking, and it might still be, but the compression test didn't show anything negative, and neither do my oil or radiator fluid. Any thoughts on this appreciated.

compression test results wouldnt necessarily show a headgasket sealing problem.leakdown test shows alot more.

Yeah, I know its kinda incunclusive on whether or not my headgasket is bad, but I needed to do one anyway before I boost it. I had the best results getting the air out of the cooling system by jacking the car up and down at pretty extreme angles, and my dinky jack I have available right now just isn't cutting it. I left the compression gauge on each cylinder for 3-5 minutes just to see what the reading would be afterward, with no real change on any of them.

I once had overheating issues too after a radiator flush. To solve it I drove my car for about 10 mins to let it get hot. While idling, I VERY carefully broke the bleeder screw loose ... nothing but air came out for about five seconds the I just let it idle while spitting up coolant for about 10 mins. This cured the overheating issue and made the car run cooler then before the flush so I was happy. Maybe try that?
