Depends on what is actually wrong with it.

If you do the work yourself (which I do), it cost about this much...

Blown Headgasket. 35 bucks. 5 bucks for some sealant and 30 bucks for the new headgasket. Takes a weekend for the average mechanic.

Weak piston rings. I'd spend maybe 200-300 to get this fixed myself. 100 for new rings. 100ish for a bore hone. 5 bucks for some sealant. Might as well replace the headgasket and oil pan gasket, 40 bucks. Might as well replace the main bearings, 45ish. I wouldn't pull the motor, just pull the head and the oil pan. You can hone the cylinders and wash them out, just be careful to not get junk in the water jacket. Duct tape works wonders here. Might take a week or so. Longer if (or should I say, WHEN) things get screwed up.

Could always be a bad valve. But I've never seen it personally on a KA... I'd guess maybe 150-350 depending on how badly the valves are jacked up. That's if you pull it yourself too.. expect a lot more if you don't do the labor yourself.

If you can I would do a leakdown test on #3 and see what is actually leaking.. that will help determine what you want to do

I'd pour some oil down the spark plug hole (just in case ur cylinder wall is washed down with fuel)... then, I'd start saving for a replacement

One or 2 teaspoons should be enough.
