I decided to do a compression test on my rb20det. Im running a cometic gasket that is basicly pussing a drop of oil maybe a week. Anyways i was going to do a retorque but decided against it "if it aint broke dont fix it".

Blew a 140 all the way across. I waited about 20-30 min to do it. I know spec is about 170 would the mhg lower it that much?

If it did would it be safe to say i could bump up the boost 1-2psi from stock?

mine did the same when i tested it. Keep in mind it has to be a luke warm engine and throttle wide open. but your numbers look fine. Also, what tester did you use? if it was the $20 tester expect it not to be very/truly acurate.

Did you open the throttle body while you did this? If you did not, that could be the cause for the lower numbers too.

The important thing is that they are even so that is good.

ehh. autozone i think like 30$. What about uppin the boost to the 14psi max on stock turbo? Yea i did it right after driving it on the interstate a while back threw in tester cranked- it like ballooned my tester lol. Exchanged it for a new one but yea i guess 20-30 min after running is correct.

The internet standard is 12psi max. Pushing 14psi is a touch excessive and doesn't produce much more gain. Stick with 12 until you have another setup lined up just in case the stocker takes a dump.

Sounds like the cometic mls head gasket mey be thicker to lower your compression ratio to be able to run more boost safer.

cylinder variance is more important than the number itself

dont worry about it.

No. The turbo is the limiting factor here, not the engine, so the gasket doesn't matter. I would recommend keeping the boost at 12 psi or less for reliability on a 15 year old turbo.

15 years old ...good point. O yea and rtv stopped my block leak completely! We'll see what happens on that sounds like a band-aid big time, but if comp. is good i cant see a problem with it. Thanks for the feed back /missed import alliance today.........werk sucks.
