i just checked my compression today and the results were 95 on all of them. i kno its suppose to be A LOT MORE than that.

what can i do?

i heard that the compression was too low to even help it.

Rebuild. Restore may help, but it's not a permanent fix.

You tested with the engine warmed up?

yup

checked with open throttle, engine warmed

its an 89 sohc with 243xxx miles.

its still running strong. everything is fine with the car except the fact of the bad compression.

shows how strong nissans are too. hehe

Maybe you have a bad gauge? The car runs strong and all numbers are really close together--both good signs. Factory minimum is around 140psi I think, and I would guess it would be noticeable if all cylinders were really that worn.

an even 95 compression on each cylinder is pretty impressive if you ask me. i mean the motor still runs, and such even wear. You could probably just re ring that motor, doing it yourself and have it fixed as cheap as possible.

If the motor is running strong there is no way that compression reading is right. that gauge has got to be weak. How many times did the engine roll on each cyl when you cranked it. A good indication of a well sealed cyl is the very first hard hit on the gauge. if that first hit is above 70 psi you have a fairly strong engine.

You may want to make sure no air is leaking past the seal on the gauge either. Try putting some oil on the O-ring that seals to the spark plug opening. I had a problem getting consistent readings when I was using a leakdown tester until I did this. I could hear the air coming back out of the spark plug hole.

However, it seems odd that all 4 cylinders would have this kind of problem and consistenly at that. When I did my leakdown, some sealed fine and others did not. And some leaked more than others. Once I used the oil, all sealed fine. I would suspect the gauge.
