i have a motor that has no starter and transmission and i was wondering how to do a compersion test?

can i do it by just turning the main crank pulley bolt?

also the motor was drained of the oil would i need to put soem in?

the engine needs to spin at around 3-600 rpm to do a proper test. so yes, you need a starter to do it.anytime the engine moves, there needs to be oil in the pan or you risk messing something up
