The compression rod on the drivers side is toast. This is the 28.2 cm threaded rod that has 2 holes in it that are 8.5 cm apart. The compression rod connects the rear part of the lower arm to the frame. It is worn halfway through. I need to find a new one. It looks like e-bay is the only place. Any other ideas out there? Does anyone know why the drivers side wears out and the passenger side is OK?

The Pathy has 220k miles on it; but, has great sentimental value, so, am willing to put a few bucks into it.

Try Rockauto, then JC Whitney. Both have been cutting back stock, so you may find it, you may not. You can also try NAPA - they often have hard to find parts, altho they will have to order them in.

I am not familiar with the 1994, but this thread states there is a hole in a bracket (assume it is a mounting bracket) to check for wear:

I am guessing the rear mounting bracket or torsion arm has some sort of problem, so the compression rod is no longer held in place properly. I once had a Ford Explorer with a similar problem. We had to replace the rods, brackets and torsion arms at the rear.
