Hey, this is might be a stupid question, but I've searched and can't find the answer. What would good compression results be on an s14 notchtop? I might be buying one tomorrow. The engine in question tested between 150-154psi. That sounds good to me, but is it? I'm buying it sight un-seen through a local shop, which gives me somewhat of an uneasy feeling since I can't see/ hear it run first, and check for signs of a bad motor. The original quoted price went up a bit, and is $2950CDN +$150CDN shipping. The quetions I'm emailing to the shop are- Any other suggested questions would be greatly appreciated!

Kouki or Zenki s14 sr?How many KM on the motor?Any/how much shaft play on the turbo?Exactly what parts are included in the package?Warranty?Any mods? Thanks in advance.

I would get compression readings on all 4 cylinders.

You cant really tell the condition of the motor until you rip it apart anyways.

I would replace the oil pump, HG, waterpump anyways which requires tearings things apart. Cheap insurance and a good running SR.

Sorry, I guess I should've been more specific, but I do have a tendency to over-explain in great detail lol.The notchtop had every cylinder tested, #1-150psi #2-152 psi #3-152psi #4-154psi. Total difference of 4psi accross all cylinders is definately acceptable. But what would a brand new s14 notchtop test at?

I do plan to disassemble the motor for evaluation. At this point in time, I plan to replace the rings, bearings and polish the crank, but leave the bottom end stock. Top end will be a different story...(insert over-explanation here)I will definately replace the paper hg, water & oil pumps, aswell as the timing chain, all acc. belts etc.

Basically, I want to start with the best engine possible out of the gate.

Cool thanks alot man, that's exactly what I need to know. Gonna send them the few questions I have about the engine, and if all sounds good, buy it.
