Alright, i did it myself on a well run hot enginewith oil all over my spark plugs 1. 1302. 1303. 1354. 140

I searched and it seems anything under 160 is bad, just how bad? what does this mean? sorry im not that with ratios. My engine i believe leaks oil from my valve cover onto my headers, smoking sometimes

am i losing much power? someone please explain!!thank you

um i dunno what year you've got, so i'll aSSume you have a DOHC engine starting from the year 1991...

git your valve cover gasket w/ the oil seals for the plugs changed!

ok, back on topic:

FAQs section of www. 240sx.org

Quote »Compression Pressure kPa (kg/cm2, psi) / RPMStandard = 1,236 (12.6, 179) / 300Minimum = 1,040 (10.6, 151) / 300Difference limit between cylinders = 98 (1.0, 14) / 300[/quote]& you can read the rest from the link I gave you to determine the final outcome of the engine's mechanical health...

yea its a 92' so a valve gasket with oil seals should stop the oil on sparkieshmmm, im about 20 psi below the minimum 150, my highest at 140 and lowest at 130, is that too low? losing power? (noob!!!) but how can i fix it?

by the way i didnt release fuel pressure and depress accelerator pedal fully to keep throttle valve wide open, as that manual suggests, think that makes much of a difference?? srry guys, just bear with me, if im bein a noob.

smells like rebuild time buddy. search for leakdown testing and post back what you find.

i didnt get a chance 2 do a leakdown testThese were the results of the comp test1. 1302. 1303. 1354. 140

My mechanic poured a cap of oil into cylinders and cranked while testing again 1.1602.1503.1554.155

so i understand that its my piston rings, slowly wearing out, im nor burning oil or anythin, but a bit of power lossany ideas??thxs

How many miles on the engine? You can try some of the additives for old engines with worn rings, they may help but really the only thing is to rebuild it. But if it isnt smoking that bad or using a lot of oil you can probably get quite a few more miles out of it. I put 50,000 miles on an old engine once with bad rings, just had to keep checking oil levels frequently.

she just hit 150,000 yesterday, oil levels are the exact same, i changed the oil almost 2,000 miles ago, and still at the same exact level.what additivies do you reccomend??
