Doing some service today for the car. First change oil then drive to the store to buy a fuel pressure tester. When I get back I will do the compression test then replace the plugs with new ngk plugs. I will also install the nismo fpr which I will test and adjust with the pressure tester.

Questions are: should I remove the fuel pump fuse and depressurise the fuel system before the compression test? Will that affect the pressure readings with the fuel injectors not pumping?

Have any suggestions on how to do things differently or easier?

Do you adjust the gap on iridium plugs? Did a search and never really mentioned them. Only thing was from night which he says he used them straight from the box.

thanks

disable fuel and ignition for a compression test, and make sure to remove ALL spark plugs when doing a compression test. its possible for a cross cylinder leak to happen and give false numbers. the injectors firing may not affect compression numbers but dry cranking like that, the fuel washes the oil off the cylinder walls so its just better to disconnect them. not to mention you can have alot of liquid fuel in a cylinder when you try to restart.

i dont think you are supposed to regap iridiums too just check it and make sure its near factory spec.

let me know what you end up getting for a Fuel pressure tester. I will be installing the NISMO FPR soon, but I haven't found a good inline fuel pressure gauge.

I tested according to instructions which was a hot engine, didn't touch the fuel at all, and all the plugs were out. #1 - 150#2 - 144#3 - 145#4 - 140#5 - 143#6 - 145

Old plugs (auto lites app 3924-11) looks good. All were greyish tan. Replaced all with NGK Irid (bkr6eix-11 3764). Gapped from factory.

As far as the fpr, the instruction states "All products are checked and set fuel pressure from factory. Be sure to set the fuel pressure after installation." Does that mean it is set close to the right pressures? Or do I really need to adjust it a lot after installing it? I didn't install it since I couldn't get a gauge from the auto stores.

my Nismo FPR was set at factory settings, almost all nissans run the same pressures.

So its cool for me to put it on with out checking the pressures right away?
