Just out of curiosity has anyone on here researched/consitered doing a compound turbo kit on a RB engine? I know that the setup is very expensive to do but the overall performance gains are phenomenal!

Boost Logic has a kit for the 2JZGTE and the test figures for the setup are pretty insane. They were registering 20psi @2800 RPMs or something crazy like that, and flows enough air to make over 800WHP!

This idea has probably floated around in the mind of our fellow member but I just wanted to see what everyone's (if they have any) input is about it.

If you haven't seen it before check out the turbo kit, I think this could be the new wave in turbocharging technology for GAS engines.

i think the compound turbo setup on a rb would be awesome, i just think most people don't want to spend that amount of money on something like that, when you can do fine on a single and be happy, the compound turbo setup is definately worth it look at the evo from AMS it's making some great power too marcs car seems to do awesome considering he has a gt35r spooling a gt42r

Yeah the AMS car didn't run the compound setup, they were on a strict time table for the Castrol Shootout, they went big single. I think that system would work great on a 30 block over a 2ltr 4 banger...

Alex I added you to my friends on AIM so get at me when you can my s/n is in my signature tag!

yeah i am in the process of selling off a bunch of stuff that I am not going to be using sometime and pricing out the materials for the manifold. I will probably run either a gt3076r to a gt4202r or use a gt35r in the place of the 30r on my rb25 head... eventually i will want to do a rb30det, but i have a rb25 so i'll work with what i have.

Ok so here is the prototype mock up what I am looking to accomplish. I need to get the materials together, but with my current engine build and the major turbo I plan to use I could potentially have a virtually "lag-free" 800+hp RB25

Yea that looks pretty good.

Arg I wish I had the money to put forged pistons and rods in my rb20 incase I do get crazy with the HP later.

But it looks likes Marc has a prioritized wastegate kind of setup. You have to keep in mind you'll be flowing 300-400HP worth of exhaust around the small turbo, and you might want a pretty big waste gate.

I wish I had an rb25 setup, just because the parts are easier to get a hold of and the transmission can hold more power!

600-700whp rb20 with no lag any one?

Yeah I was thinking about plumbing a 60mm wastegate back into the big turbo up top, but we will see how it goes...

The 25 is a great platform but the way things are looking I am really wanting to do a RB26/30 hybrid, but my fully built RB25 will have to do.

Oh and the flange that I'm using will be similar to the Full-Race so you can bolt this up whatever RB head you want eventually. So if you do forge that RB20 Alex maybe my kit will be tried and true and we might have a 6-700 RB20 rolling around NICO and the streets :D

I don't need/want you to build me a manifold. Sounds like we're thinking alike though, gr I wish I could catch you on aim.

Oh and I was talking to my co worker that has a diesel truck about turbo setups and stuff. He was saying I should look into a copper head gasket, since all the guys that run 50-100+psi run them and they seal really well. I told him I didn't know of any. I didn't but last week I did find one, it says its for an rb20 but its customizable, so I think it should fit the rb25/26/30's too. It was under $200 as well, and they don't require a super fine mirror finish like MLS gaskets.

Although I was going to buy some cometic intake/exhaust manifold gaskets unless you guys knew of a better source.

If you do decide to throw away the rb25, I could be bothered with disposing it for you.

yeah copper is the way to go. I used a copper gasket maker on my exhaust mani on my old setup and it never leaked...

i am thinking about using either a hks bottom manifold or a stock rb25 one for the bottom smaller turbo, but idk if either of those manifolds will support the power outputs that i am seeking... A few members said the stock rb one can support 500+ and thats pretty good, if i can muscle another 200 with the compound system that'd be cool really since i can get a rb25 mani for pretty cheap
