I have a diagnostic problem I could use some help with. For about two months, if you started the car when it was hot, the check engine light would come on, but go off again after a minute or two. It would run badly for that minute or two, and then smooth out after the light went off. Cold start - no engine light.
Just today (after a hot start) the engine light did not go off and the rough running is now continuous. A check of the codes refeals two codes - 34 (knock sensor) and 51 (injector circuit). Additionally, the oxygen sensor test reveals the left bank blinkng normally, but the right bank O2 sensor flashes on and off erratically. Here's a few more hints: both O2 sensors register about 5 ohms between pin a and pin c on the sensor leads connector. Also, all 6 injectors seem to be firing (they all make a similar clicking sound at idle using the stethescope.)
I am hoping that the problem is the O2 sensor on the right bank. I can't explain the other codes with this theory, however. Where are the knock sensors located? Are there two of them?
Thanks for any help you can give me.
