Hi everyone, I just picked up our new 2014 Rogue SL with the premium package today and drove all of four kilometers with it before realizing that the tech on it was all wonky. We tested the VR, which was a bit touchy but could recognize our speech after a bit of trial and error, when i realized that I could no longer control the volume with the steering buttons or even with the volume knob. Then I tried other buttons and saw that pressing the "phone" button on the steering wheel changed the radio channel instead, as did the channel buttons. Then pressing the volume button seemed to pull up the Voice (sometimes) and the volume (other times.).

I drove it right back to the dealership.

The dealer said it wasn't normal and offered us to either drive it for a day or two and bring it back for a check-up (we picked it up in the evening) or to leave it with them and they would loan us another car as they checked up on it. When we got back to the car it was flipping through channels like crazy as if a button was stuck...fast flipping too. So of course we took the loaner (a Murano...bit of a downgrade...)

Anyway, I'm hoping it's a fimware issue that can b fixed with a quick update. The SL's we'd test driven worked fine. The wife was non too pleased...I guess we'll see, I'm starting to question our choosing the Rogue over the Cherokee...

Have any others had this issue or know of any firmware updates for the radio/nav/tech system? I will keep you posted as we figure out what's what.

Welcome to the Club!

Your problem sounds like it's hardware related, rather than software. My first thought was that it's very likely an issue with the wiring harness that sends the signal from the steering wheel to the Head Unit. Mind you, there's also the possibility that the Head Unit itself is defective. Hopefully they can sort it out and you won't have any other issues. Keep us updated on what they find.

Yeah, what's weird is that buttons sometimes worked as they were supposed to and sometimes didn't. If it was a hardware issue I'd expect the buttons to be completely wrong one way or another. I was wondering if it was lag from the head unit resulting in delayed reactions to my previous button tapping as I was testing it out but quickly figured out that the phone button changing channels is definitely not normal. I should have an update by tomorrow evening when I can pick it up again.

Thanks,

Well, turns put they did a reset and everythings working fine now. I don't know if the "reset" actually includes installing latest firmware or anything else that might have fixed underlying issues. I guess we''ll see. Seems like it was definitely software though.

What little I drove so far I'm quite happy with. Nav works great, text messaging (ie reading of my texts) worked ok (fairly poor French given I'm French canadian but it was understandable. Par for the course for voice recognition/nav) voice recognition was okay once i figured out that you really do need to press the voice button again to skip the voice menus. From what people i tested it with tell me my voice came in loud and clear over my paired phone ( a Z10). I also have a ridiculously narrow driveway with a snow bank to the left (and my front door walkway on the other side) and my neighbours iron fence to the right. The Rogue had no trouble at rolling over the 18"-24" snow bank and tamping it down as I "expanded" my driveway a bit. So far so good for day 2 after a disappointing day 1.
